William Proctor Newman
Only public document about death of Blanka Teresa Flisiuk Peridot, Autopsy Report, happens to be a crock of lies. The "document" is signed by William Proctor Newman III pathologist at LSU Health Science Center in New Orleans. Newman is indeed a LSU man, it is his Alma Mater, his employer, generous paymaster and there Newman, nearing 70 now, has been doing what he likes to do - cut up bodies and return favors to his master. Tenured professor, member of many byzantine New Orleans' societies, frequent at conventions, pillar of society and buddy of known and obscured shakers and makers in corrupted city.
Is Newman a liar ? Sure, the worst, cowardly one too, and his rewards may stay only on this side of the grave. But he is more than a liar, acting as a deputy of Orleans Parish Coroner, a member of Judicial Branch, Newman is a perjurer. The most despicable in it is that an act of moral turpitude and a crime, was aimed against spirit of Blanka while writing lies about her remains. Blanka, the most uncompromising, heroic human being.
In Louisiana a stranger can obtain anybody's Autopsy Report but a person unrelated to the deceased cannot have his Death Certificate. Any allegation of a foul play in somebody's demise are looked at through prism of an autopsy report. Blanka's report is a sloppy whitewash of the institution that killed her, written by it's loyal servant.
Bradley Kieffer, a resident at Intensive Care Unit, University Hospital, New Orleans defined Blanka's death as "unexplained" in the morning of June 25, 2007. Also he quickly got permission from Chief Medical Examiner John Gagliano at Coroner's Office to perform autopsy at LSU. It gave Newman authority to transcribe an audio tape and interpret results at will, not to mention the side benefit of having young girl dismembered in an institution teaching future medics. Kieffer in charge of Blanka's last hours and twenty few minutes of code blue happened to be a clinician at the autopsy amphitheater.
It is a sign of our times growing arrogance of medics and ignorance of the served public. Add to it all specifics of a locality as New Orleans and Newman seems a predictable creature of the system - he can lie in your eyes without any side thought of not getting away with it. He radiates that depressing feeling of someone serving greater good in which anyone as a single person does not count.
There are doctor jokes, horror stories and floating folk wisdom about medics but all to all people elect to believe them. In this case Newman met opponent that he will never overcome - mortally wounded mother facing barrage of smear the victim character assassins. In his feeling of invincibility he was the first to alert her mind about the death of her daughter Blanka.
